Flatland

The woman in Flatland would need to the traits of becoming strong independent lines so they could be more formidable as well as becoming more bolder to represent a voice for the feminine class. Throughout the years woman have over-came many laws like having the right to vote and work in the labor force and within the book the woman should have the same power and force themselves into the new era of breaking rules.

Essay Topic

The topic I chose to write about for my college essay would be the being an International Baccalaureate Full Diploma Senior at Reagan because I can express the struggle and successes that I've had over my high school career.

Writing my College Essays.

My three best idea's for writing my college essay would be....
  1. Being a International Baccalaureate Full Diploma Senior at a college preparatory high school.
  2. Being a International Baccalaureate Art student.
  3. Explaining the challenges I've over-came after a family death.

Everything, Everything!

Question #5 - Think of a time in your life when you felt like you couldn't breathe. What was suffocating you and what saved you?

A major time in my life where I felt like I couldn't breath was when I was in car accident when I was younger. I was with my parents and my grandmother and we were on our way out of the Wal-Mart parking lot when a man who wasn't paying attention hit the passenger side of the car which is where I was sitting. The door was pretty pushed in and started to panic. I felt as if  everything was closing in on me. I became very distraught and began to lose my breath and begin to cry. If it wasn't for my grandma who is a certified nurse I probably would have passed out and then been hospitalized for an injury like hitting my head on  something. My grandma was able to calm my attack and make me realize I am okay.

College Essay

I haven't written an official college essay but I have written a personal essay for Concordia University about why I would like to attend college there and what factors could have impacted my high school grades and GPA. I mainly wrote about the tragic death of my aunt and how it affected me in and out of school but I also talked about how I changed for the better and became a more serious and hard working student to make up what I missed in the past years of school. I would like to revise it but I had to submit the letter already but in the future I may need the essay for another college application so revising it is the best option for that problem.

Ummm College!!!!!

  • My goals for college would be the graduate and be the first person in my family to hold a college degree and go into the medical field to help people in need.
  • My reasons for going to college are to become more independent on myself and less dependent on my family and friends and also to push myself to my full potential.
  • Expectations for college would be to maintain a good grade in all my classes and also to meet new people and improve my social skills plus my planning skills. I'm nervous about moving away from my family but I'm excited to experience the college life.
  • After college I feel it will be a mess but my plan is to graduate and hopefully move to Florida or somewhere warm and start my crazy adult life.

COLLEGE.......I'M READY........WELL MAYBE SOMEWHAT!

College! I'm so ready for campus life but in reality I'm not really for the financial part of it. I'm pretty good at saving for college and other things but sometimes I feel like I'm not doing enough to help me in the future. What's the best way to save up for college?? What about actually finding a college that you will succeed in?? I've been collecting lots of college information but I never really sat down and actually looked through all of it because I don't even know where to start or even know what I want to do with my life. I also mainly want to look at colleges outside of Wisconsin but my family doesn't really like that idea.

Response to Themes in Play.

With reading the play Living Out, it opens your view point on how people are treating depending on their race/culture. In  today's society, it's common to hear and witness discrimination in a workplace or in public. Also while reading this book, you experience how life can disappear in a moment without warning. Personally, I have a connection to both topics brought up in the play and in general I have the strongest connection to how life can disappear without warning.
I don't want to give you my whole life story but to explain my connection to the topic, my aunt who was also my godmother died on October 13, 2014 from pancreatic cancer. It was very unexpected and I never really got to say goodbye to her because she passed away in the middle of the night on the day I was going to see her. So I understand why Ana was so heartbroken on not being to see her son play soccer once. You don't really value life until its gone. For another example that occurred this week, was the death of Prince. People can pass away in the blink of an eye from basically anything from a medical problem or from an accident. Now that you probably want to cry now, lets focus on something that isn't so sad which is the treatment of people with different ethnic backgrounds.
As mentioned before, people get treated really crappy sometimes and it really upsets! In the play Ana gets declined from many jobs just because she is from El Salvador and isn't a legal citizen. Personally (once again), I have witnessed someone being discriminated against just because he was Mexican and couldn't speak English very well. In my opinion I think a no discrimination law should be set up, (I'm not sure if we have one already or not, but if we do it sucks) and people who are found guilty should either get a fine or do jail time. So many people have very little options here for jobs its ridiculous.
In conclusion, the ending to the play Living Out was a shell shock to all the readers. The ending was sad but it opens new view points for everyone.

Extended Movie Response. (Timed Writing #3)

The Fast & Furious are my favorite movies because it represents a bunch of friends being brought together by fighting to make a living by racing along with catching criminals. The Fast & Furious movies have changed the way I think about friends being more than just friends.
Watching the movie also brought my father and me closer because he loves watching action movies and it made me love cars a little more than other daughters would. During each movie you see the family stick up for each other even when it comes back and hurts them in the end. One part I really love is when Mia which is the sister to one of the main characters announces she's pregnant and the friends agree to never leave her side. It really shows that even when something life changing happens, that the family (friends) will never walk away or give up on you.

Time Writing #3

Furious 7 is my favorite movie because it represents a bunch of friends being brought together by fighting to make a living by racing and catching criminals. This movie is also my favorite movie because they dedicated the movie to Paul Walker after he passed away in a terrible car crash.
An example of this group of friends being brought together is when they go after the people who had killed one of their friends in a previous car crash in Tokyo. With the help of some special agents they find the guys responsible for the crash and stop him from doing more damage to people and a military base that was in danger of being exposed.
Everyone should watch this movie because it shows how being close with friends can actually be beneficial but also it has a very nice tribute to Paul Walker and his family. (BE AWARE IT MIGHT MAKE YOU CRY!)

Favorite Music Video's.

I love listening to country music but Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean are my favorite country singers. I mean I like other country singers like Carrie Underwood or Little Big Town but to be honest these two singers are my favorite no matter what. Luke Bryan has the most amazing voice, it's just so calming and not to deep either. He's not considered much of a country singer because his music is more like country rock or sometimes country pop. Listening to his music makes me want to dance around like a crazy person. I like this video in particular because talks about a breakup but its kind of cool. I also love listening to Jason Aldean because he is such an amazing singer as well. When listening to his music I seem to get more work done, probably because his music is more country rock so the tempo is more upbeat plus I don't get the urge to dance much.

Timed Writing #2

This book is super funny! The book is a about a famous Youtuber and he talks about his childhood and his high school years as being an over-weight teenager. It's main character is Shawn Dawson!  He also talks about him becoming a Youtube star and then starring in a couple movies and tv commercials. I love this book because it's down to earth and just plan out funny. Everyone should read it because some of the things he includes in his book can be relate-able and easy to understand. Plus the book includes art sent in by other artists and it's interesting to see.
